The lawyer for Samourai Wallet founder filed a motion in the Federal Court of New York, announcing that the U.S. Department of the Treasury, through FinCEN, has confirmed that Samourai Wallet does not store users’ private keys and does not operate as a “money services business” requiring a license. However, this information was delayed for more than a year. Keonne Rodriguez and William Hill were accused of operating without permission and conspiracy to launder money in April 2024. Both deny the charges and the lawyer intends to request withdrawal of the lawsuit. The defendants have always believed their actions are legal.
