The lengthy lawsuit with the SEC has ended favorably for Ripple. The SEC decided to withdraw its appeal and reduce the fine from 125 million USD to 50 million USD, while also requesting the court to lift the ban on Ripple. Changes in the U.S. government have also helped to ease the previous restrictions on cryptocurrency.

Billion Dollar Deal

Ripple has acquired Hidden Road, a leading brokerage, for $1.25 billion. This deal opens up new opportunities for institutional financial services. Hidden Road will use the stablecoin RLUSD and rely on the XRP Ledger to accelerate transactions and reduce costs in foreign exchange markets.

XRP Growth

By the end of March 2025, Ripple holds 4.56 billion XRP, up from 4.48 billion at the beginning of the year. 37.13 billion XRP remains locked and will be gradually released over the next 42 months.

Activity on XRPL Cools Down but DeFi Remains Strong

The activity on the XRP Ledger has cooled down compared to the end of 2024, with the number of transactions and new wallets decreasing by 30–40%. However, DeFi activity still performs much better than many other chains, with trading volume on decentralized exchanges only dropping by 16%.

XRP Outperforms the Market

In Q1, XRP stood out by rising nearly 50% in February and maintaining stability while Bitcoin and Ethereum faced difficulties. XRP-based investment products attracted 37.7 million USD in just three months, bringing the total investment for 2025 to 214 million USD, soon to surpass Ethereum.

After 8 years, Ripple has decided to stop releasing reports in the old format from Q2 2025, in order to improve the way it interacts with the market.
