Tether, the company behind the USDT stablecoin, announced an investment of nearly 120 billion USD in US Treasury bonds by the end of March. In the first quarter, Tether achieved a profit of over 1 billion USD from traditional investments. Although this figure represents a sharp decline compared to the 6 billion USD profit from the previous quarter.
The report states that Tether’s investment in U.S. bonds includes both direct and indirect investments through money market funds and repurchase agreements. By the end of the first quarter, direct investment in bonds accounted for approximately 99 billion USD.
USDT, the largest stablecoin in the world backed by the USD, has approximately 150 billion USD in circulation. Tether regularly publishes quarterly reports, demonstrating transparency about the reserves backing USDT.
