Aave contributor bgdlabs: Detected an attack on some peripheral contracts of Aave, all user funds are safe

Abstract generation in progress

On August 28th, bgdlabs, a contributor to Aave, stated that a series of transactions across different networks were detected today, demonstrating an attack on certain peripheral contracts of Aave (not part of the Aave protocol itself, only used in the app.aave.com user interface). The core Smart Contracts of Aave, involving all pool dynamics, were not affected and are unrelated to these transactions. The affected Smart Contracts only interact with the users and the contracts themselves. This means that any potential attacker cannot affect any other user. In these transactions, no funds were withdrawn from any user, and all funds related to Aave are completely secure. As a precaution, the maintainers of app.aave.com (Aave Labs) have temporarily disabled these functions and any similar functions while we complete our investigation.
